Rivers State Has One Authentic House of Assembly, Led by Oko-Jumbo – Governor Fubara

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has officially signed into law the state’s 2025 budget, valued at N1,188,962,739,932.36. In his address following the signing at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Thursday, Governor Fubara reaffirmed that the state has only one legitimate House of Assembly, which is headed by Rt. Hon. Victor Oko-Jumbo.

Fubara also addressed the ongoing political rift within the state legislature, specifically targeting a faction led by Martin Amaewhule. He accused the group of embarking on a misguided journey, driven by a sympathy they did not fully understand. The Governor explained that while the group realized their mistake midway through their actions, their attempt to reverse course had come too late.

“We have only one Rivers State House of Assembly, and that Assembly is headed by Rt Hon Victor Oko-Jumbo,” Fubara declared, emphasizing the resolution of the dispute.

The Governor further likened the situation to a “Sinbad journey,” where the group, in their pursuit, had unwittingly sailed into what he described as a “den of devils and sharks,” only to regret their decision once it was too late.

“We gave them enough room for peace, but it is now too late. We are not going back,” he continued. “There is no Governor in this country that has taken the treatment I’ve taken from these people.”

Fubara’s remarks solidified his position on the legitimacy of the Oko-Jumbo-led House of Assembly and signaled the end of any ongoing political ambiguity in the state’s legislative leadership.
