$38,000 FOR RESIDENTS DATING, MARRYING IN SOUTH KOREA
The Saha District of Busan in South Korea is offering residents up to $38,000 as incentive to encourage them engage in dating and also in marriage.
As new initiative, it is designed as part of a broader effort to combating the shrinking population rate in South Korea.
There is already a low fertility rate of of 0.72 children per woman, which is considered historic.
South Korea, as a country, is facing the world’s lowest birth rate.
So, it is now turning to financial incentives in a bid to reverse its demographic decline.
The believe is that the initiative will make family life more attainable and financially sustainable.
To do that, there has to be a fostering connections through a variety of social events designed to bring like-minded individuals together.
When sustained, the country’s demographic crisis will be tackled, and the population boosted because young people are being encouraged to marry and start families.
