The leadership of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in Rivers State says there are convincing indications that the 5th October 2024 Local Government Elections will be unlike others conducted in the State.
Speaking to newsmen in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, the River State Chairman of the party, Hon. Kendrick A. Christian said it only those who do not want Rivers State to go forward political that are crying foul.
Hon Christian advised those calling for the cancellation of the elections to simply give up in a sportsman's manner.
The ADP chieftain said he had watched some self-styled politicians making some frantic but fruitless moves to stop the election.
Hon Christian urged such fellows to give up their antics and wait for 2027 General Elections.
The ADP chieftain said: "As a politician, I know for sure that the distractors are regretting not partaking in the exercise.
"It's like missing exam after possible preparations.
"But it's nobody's fault, RSIEC notified all Parties to partake. They decided, for reasons best known to them, to be boycott.
"Examinations can not be cancelled simply because of a student's absence, especially for unsubstantiated excuse."
Hon Kendrick stated that ADP as party is hopeful and ready to participate in the election that promises to be different what they had seen before.
He insisted that it is also confident that the 2024 Local Government election be free, and fair as as assured by the chairman of Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC).
