The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has achieved a significant victory in the local government elections held on September 28, 2024, in Anambra State, securing all chairmanship and councillorship positions across the 21 local government areas and 326 wards.

In a press briefing on Sunday, the Chairman of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC), Genevieve Osakwe announced that APGA won all 21 chairmanship seats and cleared all 326 councillorship positions.
Osakwe described the election as the fairest to date and emphasized the commission’s thorough collation and analysis of results to ensure their accuracy.
During the announcement, Osakwe shared the total scores of the APGA candidates, confirming their victories based on the highest votes cast. She praised the citizens of Anambra for their strong voter turnout and expressed gratitude to security agencies for maintaining peace and order throughout the election process.
“This is to affirm the results of the chairmanship and councillorship elections held on September 28, 2024. The commission meticulously collated and analyzed the results to eliminate any mistakes. We ensured that all scores and parties were announced at the polling units yesterday. We are here today to affirm the results as recorded. The election held at all polling units across Anambra State on September 28 was free, fair, and credible,” Osakwe stated.
Notably, only APGA officials and party agents were present at the ANSIEC office during the declaration of the results, with no representatives from opposition political parties
