FUBARA CHARGES MANAGERS OF NYSC ON NATION BUILDING
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has urged managers of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to ensure that youths on the scheme are challenged to be catalysts for the desired, peace, unity and progressive development of the country.
He emphasised that the one year mandatory service for university graduates was designed to foster tolerance, promote nations cohesion and strength the nationality bond among citizenry.
Governor Fubara spoke at the swearing in ceremony of 2024 Batch B Stream II Corps Members at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, Nonwa-Gbam Tai Local Government Area on Friday.
The Rivers State governor was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Bureau, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Hamilton Amadi.
Governor Fubara: "I am happy that over the years, the scheme has continued to grow in leaps and bounds, impacting positively on every facet of the nation's growth.
"I charge you to be exemplary, dedicated and committed in all you do, both here on camp and throughout the service year in order to repay Nigerians' the faith and trust placed on you."
Governor Fubara harped on the need for the managers of the NYSC Scheme to introduce the corps members to useful skills that will enable them to become self-reliant.
Speaking while delivering his welcome address, the NYSC Rivers State Coordinator, Mr. George Mfongang informed that the NYSC scheme has continued to add value to host communities.
