GOV ENO DISTRIBUTES 4,940 BAGS OF RICE, GARRI TO 247 VILLAGES IN UKANAFUN/ORUK ANAM FED CONSTITUENCY
~A’Ibom to become food basket of Nigeria -Kingsley Frank
Ukanafun /Oruk Anam Federal Constituency yesterday, received a total number of 4,940 bags of rice and 494 bags of garri from Government aimed at cushioning the effects of the harsh economy.
The palliatives were further distributed across the 87 gazetted villages in Ukanafun local government area and 160 gazetted villages in Oruk Anam local government area, respectively.
At Ikot Akpa Nkuk, Ukanafun council headquarters, the Transition Chairman, Hon Godwin Ekpe while conveying the good tidings from Governor Umo Eno urged the village heads to equitably distribute the palliatives to the people.
He said, "We are so happy today, we are here to distribute the palliatives given to us by both the Federal and State Government. In the same way we have shared equitably to you, also do the same in your respective villages."
He further said that out of 48,000 bags of rice shared by the State government to all local governments, Ukanafun received 1,740 bags of rice and 174 bags of garri to be shared to everyone regardless of political affiliation.
In his goodwill remarks, the representative of the Paramount Ruler and Clan head of Northern Afaha, Obong Sabbath Tom thanked the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Governor, Pastor Umo Eno for coming up with such initiative to provide food to the needy in this difficult times.
Similarly at Ikot Ibiritam, Oruk Anam council headquarters, the Transition Chairman, Hon Kingsley Frank said that the 3,200 bags of rice and 320 bags of garri received were further shared to the 160 villages with each village receiving 20 bags of rice and 2 bags of garri.
He lauded President Tinubu and Governor Eno for doubling the palliatives received from the Federal Government.
Frank described the Governor as a peaceful and a loving Governor whose disposition has transcended into a peaceful environment for everyone.
According to him, "The Governor is doing very well, see how peaceful we have conducted ourselves today. It is because of the kind of Governor we have.
" He is doing well, he has asked us to go back to the farm so that we can produce our own crops, we will appreciate the Government. If we carry out the Governor’s directive on back to farm sincerely, Akwa Ibom would become food basket of the nation in the nearest future.” He averred.
Also speaking, the Paramount Ruler of Oruk Anam, Okuku J. J. Obosi, described Governor Umo Eno as a good man and a God sent who has come to alleviate the sufferings of the Akwa Ibom people through his ARISE agenda.
He further pleaded with the Governor to continue distributing more seedlings through the ministry of Agriculture so that everyone can plant their own crops as measures towards food security in the state.
Some village heads, youth leaders and women leaders who spoke to journalists, expressed appreciation to Governor Eno and assured of equitable distribution of the palliatives.
