Senator Banigo Provides Update On Petroleum Industry Sabotage Probe
Following an interactive session with critical stakeholders, including the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), and others, Senator Ipalibo Banigo, a member of the 15-member Senate Ad-Hoc Committee investigating alleged economic sabotage in the Nigerian Petroleum Industry, has provided an update on the committee's progress.
The session, which marked a crucial milestone in the investigation, saw stakeholders engage in robust discussions and provide valuable insights into the industry.
Senator Banigo, who represents Rivers West in the Senate, in a statement in Port Harcourt emphasized the need for transparency and accountability in the sector, stressing that the committee's findings would shape a more sustainable future for Nigeria's petroleum industry.
The committee, led by Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, aims to investigate billions of dollars spent on turnaround maintenance of state-owned refineries in the last decade and address deep-rooted challenges facing the industry.
With a three-week deadline set by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, the committee is committed to a holistic investigation and restoring trust and integrity in the petroleum sector.
