The Comrade Perekosufa Ineife-led leadership of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Central Zone has marked its one-year anniversary by empowering three Ijaw youths with a barbershop.

Speaking after the inauguration on Tuesday, IYC President, Sir Jonathan Lokpobiri, who chaired the ceremony, described the feat as a challenge to other zones and chapters of the Council to follow suit.

Sir Lokpobiri commended the Central Zone leadership for their innovative initiative, urging for greater collaboration to enable them to achieve even more for the Ijaw people in the zone.

Also, the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Dr. Dennis Otuaro, represented by Amb. Esther Boro, Head of the Programme in Bayelsa, expressed admiration for the initiative and called for patronage for the barbershop.

In their goodwill messages, a stakeholder of the zone, Comrade Robert Igali, and former National Legal Adviser, Barrister Ayebakuro Igbeta, praised the initiatives as a positive development, emphasizing that the move clearly demonstrates the IYC's shift away from armed struggle.

On his part, Chairman of IYC Central Zone, Comrade Perekosufa Ineife said the initiative was part of activities of the zonal executive to meaningfully empower youths of the zone and provide purposeful leadership under his watch.
