It has come to a time when we can no longer fold our hands and watch our ones cherished and revered Apex youth body of the ogbia people turn to a battle field for some selfish individuals.
We are aware of the factionalization of the Youth Council with two individuals claiming the position of the president and have continually called for congresses at different times
The said division has crippled the unity we ones enjoyed as ogbia youth youths under the umbrella of the Ogbia Brotherhood Youth Council
It is with great dismay that both factions have called for separate Congreses with the aim of setting up an Electoral Committee to further divide the Ogbia Youths as their divisive leadership calendar ends on the 29th of December
It is on this note that we call on all well-meaning Ogbia youths to wake up and stop this prolonged division amongst us.
We therefore call on the Security Agencies to stop Mr Bright Ewa and Mr Johnny Jonathan alongside their factional executives from holding any of the Congresses as announced as their actions may lead to a total breakdown of law and order
As clan presidents, we plead with both parties to drop their swords and embrace peace in the interest of our people
We have consulted critical stakeholders of Council including community youth Presidents, Former Council Exco members,Former Clan presidents, Present and former leaders of IYC who are from Ogbia, Opinion Leaders and have scheduled a Unity Congress to hold on the 2nd of October 2024 at the Obhan Emeyal Youth Council secretariat Emeyal town Kolo Creek with Special invitations to leadership of the both factions
Ogbia Brotherhood Youth Council must move forward, and we must all join hands to bring a lasting peace to Council
as a matter of urgency, the Unity Congress shall resolve all issues of retrogression amongst the youths.
We therefore call on both groups spearheading the leadership of OGBIA BROTHERHOOD YOUTH COUNCIL to honor and attend this Unity Congress, where a Unified Electoral Committee shall be formed ahead of the OBYC National Convention.
